Well defined legs can improve your physical appearance greatly, good legs are vital as they provide foundation to the rest of the body. It is of great importance to have legs work out as they are the strongest muscle group and need to be taken care of. Legs do almost everything for us, this include: Walking, running and standings. Legs are also important in almost all the sports.





One of the major leg muscle building is squat. It is believed to be the best leg work out exercise that one can do. It helps build strong muscles and strength which can enable one to engage in various sports. This exercise can be performed in different ways. For example in a barbell leg muscle building one should place the shoulder neck area and place hands on the barbell. Slowly move down and bend your legs while the butt is being pushed backwards. Bend the knees at an angle of 90 degree and return back up.

Leg press machine can be used instead of squat; this is also an effective method in leg work out. All you need is to use the area below the waist sit on the leg press machine seat and place your legs on the foot plate. Adjust the weight and push the foot plate forward. Return to the starting position and repeat the process as many times as you can. This exercise will help a great deal to work on your leg muscles.

Running works on the leg muscles as well as playing a role in cardio exercise. It helps in burning fat and the building strong muscles. Gym cycling can also be part of the running exercise. It is done by the use of a stationary bike. The idea of standing while cycling targets the leg muscles better, and doing it at least for 20 minutes will get rid of fat legs thus building very strong muscles.


Pushups are a common exercise used by many people. It is done by simply kneeling on the ground and supporting the legs with something that can be used as a grid. Try to push your back up and balance the body on both hand, go down slowly and after the body touches the ground a little, come up. For those who are not good at it, it is good to try little by little. It is basically used for chest but is also very important for legs.

Rod combined with dips is also an important leg workout exercise. One needs to stand and hold the rods containing the weights. Slowly bend down the rods on the hands but not in such a way that you are touching your heel or creating imbalance over your body. Place the rods in the hands supported by the shoulders. Push yourself up. This exercise is commonly done in the gym and it really makes a difference.
